Community

For more than twenty years, we've been highly active in the Northern Beaches music community as Continuumusic.  It’s very likely that, when you’ve been out listening to live music, if you glanced towards the back of the room, I was probably standing behind the mixing console.

We’ve run the live music entertainment for a number of local venues on the Northern Beaches including:  The Surf Rock, Manly Vale Calabria Bowling Club, Manly Pacific, The Manly Fishos, Manly Rugby Union Club, The Ivanhoe, The New Brighton Hotel and many others and were the founders of A.N.B.O.P.A (Association of Northern Beaches Original Performing Artists).

Over the years we’ve been involved in doing sound for Northern Beaches Council’s venues:  Yo-Yo’s (Nikk has been the house engineer for Yo-Yo’s for almost 20 years!), Curl Curl Scout Hall, Cromer Community Centre, Manly Youth Centre, Mona Vale Memorial Hall and the Dee Why PCYC.  We have been both judges and the major prize donors for the long running Northern Composure under 18’s band competition run by Council.

We’ve supplied sound for the local Eurofest and Narrabeen Lakes Festivals for many years and the Carols by Candlelight concerts at Lionel Watts Oval, The Sydney Dragon Boat Races and as far out as the Nymagee Outbak Music Festival.  We also organised and ran the Clean Waves concert on Manly Beach for Ocean Care Day.

The studio also regularly hosts mixing workshop days for people with disabilities in conjunction with Options Disability Support where Nikk teaches aspiring recording engineers the basics of recording, mixing and the workings of the studio.  The students also get to have a bash on some instruments and do some looping.

Of course, I haven't just been behind the curtain.  I have also been around playing music and entertaining crowds around the beaches and beyond for more than 20 years in varying original and cover bands.
